ICA Fluor secures US$638mn clean fuels projects from PEMEX

exico’s state oil company PEMEX Refining has given ICA Fluor the US$638 million EPC contracts for two low sulfur gasoline projects in Mexico. ICA Fluor will be responsible for the EPC, testing and start-up including the installation of the catalytic gasoline desulphurization plants, the amine regeneration units, offsites, utilities and the integration for the existing Hector R Lara Sosa Refinery in Cadereyta, Nuevo Leon and the Francisco I Madero Refinery in Ciudad Madero, Tamaulipas. The Cadereyta refinery project includes a 42 500 barrel-per-day catalytic distillation train, the associated amine regeneration unit, flare and all ancillary facilities. The Madero refinery project includes two 20 000 barrelper-day catalytic distillation plants, the associated amine regeneration units, flare and all ancillary facilities. The work is scheduled to be completed over 44 months.

Saudi Aramco selects KBR for Shaybah FEED work

BR is to provide FEED and Project Management Services (PMS) for Saudi Arabian Oil Co’s (Saudi Aramco) Shaybah Natural Gas Liquids (NGL) Program at Shaybah field in Saudi Arabia. KBR will develop the process design, layout, develop equipment and material specifications, prepare bid packages and develop an estimate for the construction for several projects related to the Shaybah NGL Program facilities. 4

BP makes 19th discovery in Angola’s Block 31

ociedade Nacional de Combustíveis de Angola (Sonangol) and BP Exploration (Angola) Ltd have announced the Tebe oil discovery in ultra-deepwater Block 31, offshore Angola. Tebe, which is BP’s 19th discovery in Block 31, is located in the southern portion of Block 31, 350km northwest of Luanda. The well results have confirmed the capacity of the reservoir to flow in excess of 5000 barrels a day under production conditions. Sonangol is the concessionaire of Block 31. BP Exploration (Angola) Ltd as operator holds 26.67%. The other interest owners in Block 31 are Esso Exploration and Production Angola (Block 31) Ltd (25%), Sonangol P&P (20%), Statoil Angola AS (13.33%), Marathon International Petroleum Angola Block 31 Ltd (10%) and TEPA (BLOCK 31) Ltd (5%).

ir Products is to construct a new world-scale hydrogen production plant for Monsanto Co at Monsanto’s Luling, Louisiana Roundup facility. Air Products will build a steam methane reformer (SMR) producing over 100 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) of hydrogen. The SMR will be connected to Air Products’ East Gulf Coast pipeline network. The facility will also produce additional hydrogen via a clean-up of a Monsanto hydrogen-rich offgas feed. Monsanto will use steam from Air Products’ SMR process to benefit its Roundup production plant. Air Products’ hydrogen facility in Luling will be built through the global alliance between Air Products and Technip. The alliance has built over 30 hydrogen production facilities to date. Technip provides the design and construction expertise for steam reformers while Air Products

provides the gas separation technology. The plants are operated and maintained by Air Products under long-term agreements with customers. The new hydrogen plant is scheduled to be on-stream in January 2012.

Aker Solutions awarded StatoilHydro FEED contract

A

ker Solutions is to undertake a NOK50 million FEED study for StatoilHydro for the upgrading of the Gullfaks A drilling facilities in Norway. The FEED study will cover new equipment to increase drilling capacity and modification of existing installations offshore. The study will also look at the possibility of upgrading the drilling capacity to reach 10km, including heavy lifting to install a new derrick. The FEED will also include environment, health and safety upgrading. The contract work starts immediately and the FEED will be completed in April 2010. The FEED study will be performed by Aker Solutions’ drilling equipment business hub in Kristiansand along with the company’s centre of maintenance and modification expertise based in Bergen.

Jacobs wins Borouge FEED work for polymer plant in Abu Dhabi

J

acobs Engineering Group Inc has received a contract from Abu Dhabi Polymers Co (Borouge) to develop FEED for a section of the Borouge 3 project, a grassroots polypropylene/polyethylene facility in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates. Jacobs’ section will involve the compounding, soaking and product handling line. The project’s FEED portion is scheduled to be completed by mid-2010. Borouge is a joint venture between Abu Dhabi National Oil Co and Austria’s Borealis.
