Research,

Tiffs conference (VAPP IIl) follows two highly successful conferences in Chester (VAPP I, 1981) and Oxford (VAPP II, 1984) on Vector and Parallel Processors in Computational Science. The format of the meeting will follow the pattern set by its predecessors. It is intended to review hardware and architecture development together with languages and software tools for supporting parallel processing. Another objective of the conference will be to highlight adveai¢:es in algolithms and applications software on vector and parallel architectures. The programme will include both numerical applications (e.g. Physics and Engineering) and non-numerical applications (e.g. image processing, simulation, movies). It is expected that the programme will be divided equally between languages/software tools, hardware/architecture, algorithms/software and applications. The conference will appeal to anyone with an interest in the design and use of vector and parallel machines. There will be about 14 invited talks, 25 contributed talks and a poster session. The conference lectures will be held in Camatic House, University of Liverpool, North Mossley Hill Road. Accommodation for participants will be available in the adjacent Dale Hall. The poster session, together with the book exhibits and computer vendor displays will be in Dale Hall. The conference timetable is such ~hat there will be lectures on Tuesday (am/pro), Wednesday (am/pro), Thursday (am only) and Friday (am/pm). On Tuesday evening there will be a receptioa hosted by the University and the conference banquet will be on Thursday evening. Proceedings The proceedings of both VAPP I and VAPP II were published as special issues of Computer Physics Communications (26, 217-489, 1982 and 37, 1-386, 1984). All title papers ~vea at VAPP IIl will be refereed and those accepted will appear in a special i.,;sue of Parallel
